Say Hi to Higher English Skills

My name is Emma!

I graduated Cornell University for Environmental Science in 2020. I maintained good grades despite balancing a social life and having a long term relationship. As an extrovert, I am very social and love interacting with people, which is why working with children fits well with me. After graduating, I moved to South Korea for my boyfriend, who was forced into the military. I had to pivot my career and change to teaching to get a visa. As someone who was working in a lab doing research at Cornell, I saw this sudden change in careers as a way to improve myself. I was lucky enough to be a determined worker to climb the teaching ladder by showing up enthusiastic and ready to learn.

I started at the bottom— my first year I worked at a basic hagwon, teaching elementary to high school. This gave me the fundamentals of teaching a wide variety of students of different ages. I quickly got burnt out from that schedule (teaching up to 9 hours per day), and I wanted a more meaningful challenge. I decided to work at an AP academy teaching AP US History, AP Psychology, SAT Grammar, and AP Environmental Science. Then, I wanted a more stable work-life balance, so I decided to teach at an international school for almost two years, teaching 5th grade as a homeroom teacher. I taught the highest level at the school, teaching elementary science, math, social studies, and English.

NOW, I want to share some of the content that might help ESL or regular students achieve their dreams.
